The Impact of Consolidation on Dermatology Practices is the Topic of Discussion
Brentwood, TN (February 28, 2017)
Bill Southwick, Chief Executive Officer of QualDerm Partners, a company that creates market-leading dermatology practice partnerships through acquisition and de novo development, will be a featured speaker at the American Academy of Dermatology’s 2017 Annual Meeting.
On Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m., Southwick will present Consolidation in the Market – What Does it Mean to You as part of the event’s Advanced Practice Management session track. During this session, attendees will learn how industry consolidation impacts reimbursement, patient access, recruitment and other aspects of their practices. Southwick will also discuss practice management and leadership strategies that can help position practices for sustainable success.
“Consolidation has already changed the landscape of the dermatology market,” says Southwick. “Many physicians are looking for ways to ensure their practices’ long-term profitability. I look forward to sharing the insights we’ve gained from working with top-tier dermatology practices.”
Recently, consolidation of both commercial payors and physician practices has affected reimbursement rates, particularly for smaller practices. A recent Health Affairs report estimates reimbursement rates for office visits are reduced by almost 20% when a payor’s market share increases.
“In today’s market, dermatologists can benefit from being part of a larger, support-driven organization. However, many are afraid that means giving up their clinical autonomy,” says Southwick. “QualDerm’s partnership approach ensures dermatologists can continue to give their patients the highest quality of care.”
The conference, which focuses on the clinical, regulatory and business aspects of dermatology, brings together nearly 20,000 attendees from around the world. During the five-day event, attendees have access to 375 educational sessions.
The AAD Annual Meeting is March 3-7 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
