The American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) recently recognized two QualDerm-affiliated physicians for their contributions and commitment to advancing the practice of Mohs surgery.
David G. Brodland, MD, FAAD, FACMS, who practices at Pennsylvania-based Zitelli & Brodland, P.C., was named the recipient of the 2020 Frederic E. Mohs Award. This award is annually presented to an individual who elevates Mohs surgery in their teaching, clinical practice, scientific contributions, innovation, mentorship and service to the organization. Among his numerous other career achievements, Dr. Brodland has helped train 37 Mohs surgeons through the Zitelli & Brodland Fellowship Training Program. The Frederic E. Mohs Award is the highest honor for lifetime career achievement in the ACMS.
Barry Leshin, MD, FAAD, FACMS, founder of The Skin Surgery Center which has practices in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, was honored with a 2020 Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes ACMS members who have devoted extraordinary time and effort to a particular College-related project, activity or initiative. Dr. Leshin previously served as the ACMS President. His leadership was instrumental in helping to establish and advance the ACMS Foundation. The Foundation honors the legacy of Dr. Frederic E. Mohs and aims to support research and education for the specialty.
Both Drs. Brodland and Leshin are active leaders within the QualDerm organization. Dr. Brodland serves on the QualDerm Quality Council, a physician-led initiative to enhance safety and quality of care throughout the QualDerm network. Dr. Leshin, whose practice was the first QualDerm partner, has served on the QualDerm Board of Directors and continues to help to guide the organization’s policies and growth.
